WhatsApp: Facebook-owned social messaging platform WhatsApp has had to issue an explanation after the controversy over its new update. These notifications of WhatsApp triggered a round of criticism on the Internet and various types of memes started circulating about the alleged data sharing of WhatsApp with Facebook. WhatsApp, its rival companies Telegram and Signal also reacted to this. Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov alleged in a blog that WhatsApp has started a confidential marketing program to spread misinformation about his company on social media.
Signal app also participated in this controversy through a long series of tweets.
